Physician Assistant

A physician assistant is a health care professional who works closely with a licensed physician. Admission to PA school is just as competitive as any other graduate program; therefore, the prerequisites are similar, including a strong background in social, behavioral, chemical, mathematical, and biological sciences. Additionally, to gain acceptance to many PA programs, direct patient contact hours may be required. This is typically done by becoming a certified nursing assistant. A student planning a career in physician assistant studies should request an advisor from the Natural Sciences as early as possible.
