EDU307 : Educating Exceptional Children

This course is designed to help pre- service teachers understand their role in identifying and serving students with identified learning challenges in an inclusive educational setting. Emphasis is placed on the skills needed to collaborate with special educators, participation in Responsive to Treatment Intervention (RTI), and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Study of the major categories of exceptionality designed to meet the needs of pre-service teachers who must implement appropriate services for students with special needs in a regular classroom with specific emphasis on instruction of students displaying characteristics of dyslexia.  Field experience is required.

Prerequisites

Candidates must be admitted to the TEP before taking this course.
