About This Course

This course is designed to explore the challenges of empowering the poor in a world marked by marginalization, disempowerment, and injustice. Topics to be covered include worldview issues that influence our understanding of poverty and development; a framework for transformational development; an overview of contemporary development theory; and the development practitioner. Please note that this course employs service learning and therefore involves significant work outside of the classroom.
